{"id":24,"date":"2006-10-06T09:18:07","date_gmt":"2006-10-06T13:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cecsearch.com\/WordPress\/2006\/10\/06\/exploring-the-candidate-bill-of-rights-part-4\/"},"modified":"2022-08-08T03:59:52","modified_gmt":"2022-08-08T07:59:52","slug":"exploring-the-candidate-bill-of-rights-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cecsearch.com\/wordpress\/2006\/10\/06\/exploring-the-candidate-bill-of-rights-part-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Exploring the Candidate Bill of Rights (Part 4)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"2\"><span class=\"053451317-22092006\">\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/span>continuing my running commentary on the <\/font><a title=\"Browse ItzBig Blog in a new windos\" href=\"http:\/\/www.itzbigblog.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><font color=\"#214876\" size=\"2\">ItzBIG Blog<\/font><\/a><font size=\"2\"> series of articles on the <\/font><a title=\"Read the fourth installment right here.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.itzbigblog.com\/142\/exploring-the-job-candidate-bill-of-rights-part-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><font color=\"#214876\" size=\"2\">Candidate Bill of Rights<\/font><\/a><font size=\"2\">.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\"><strong>&#8220;Consideration&#8221;<\/strong> is the topic of today&#8217;s post.\u00c2\u00a0 I think it is euphemistically reworded, to eliminate the word <em>discrimination<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 Discrimination is an awful and ugly word.\u00c2\u00a0 Especially when you see it in practice.\u00c2\u00a0 We don&#8217;t allow that here.\u00c2\u00a0 We don&#8217;t work with clients that move in that direction.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Now it is a fact of life that in recruiting we are discriminating, on a daily basis, just not the illegal kind.\u00c2\u00a0 At least the good and ethical recruiters aren&#8217;t.\u00c2\u00a0 But we are all discriminating.\u00c2\u00a0 We are judging the value potential of prospective candidates.\u00c2\u00a0 We toss some.\u00c2\u00a0 We keep some in files.\u00c2\u00a0 We present some.\u00c2\u00a0 All are not &#8216;considered&#8217; equal, for that is one of the things we get paid for.\u00c2\u00a0 Finding talent that rises above the rest, and bringing that to our client.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">We must be careful, however, to only judge the differences that have something to do with the job and the successful completion of the tasks required in that job.\u00c2\u00a0 We must not see a company that is majority white (or black) and gravitate to sending only candidates that match that racial profile.\u00c2\u00a0 We must not look at graduation dates and say to ourselves &#8220;this guy\/gal is too old, they&#8217;d never consider him\/her.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 And when we here talk like that from our client companies, we have to be prepared.\u00c2\u00a0 We have a response ready to go.\u00c2\u00a0 It is three step.\u00c2\u00a0 One, we ask if the is an EEOC mandate in place.\u00c2\u00a0 If not, secondly, we tell the company that we do not discriminate against any protected categories and will present ALL qualified candidates.\u00c2\u00a0 If we see that a clear pattern of discrimination or the desire to discriminate is developing, we sever our relationship with that client.\u00c2\u00a0 What is your response?<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6continuing my running commentary on the ItzBIG Blog series of articles on the Candidate Bill of Rights. &#8220;Consideration&#8221;
